Founded in 2006, Specialist Technical Engineering Services (STS Group) is a leading provider of electrical engineering, design, instrumentation and commissioning services across Ireland, the UK, Europe and the Middle East. Its industry-leading teams work on some of the world’s most prestigious projects within life sciences, data centre, utilities, energy, commercial, food and beverage and transport sectors.
The ongoing Covid-19 pandemic has created issues for all businesses across the globe. STS Group has projects in many countries where government stances on the pandemic have varied from region to region and were also constantly changing. This resulted in a requirement for agility in coordination around the movement of staff and regulatory changes that affected work practices.
Liam Linehan, Business Development Director, STS Group, explains: “Even with restrictions and the resulting challenges, all of our staff members were flexible. There was a mix of staff working from home and staff that continued to work on essential services-defined projects. It is amazing to see the impressive examples of collaboration and the continuous efforts made by all to strive for excellence.”
Diversity & Inclusion
STS Group is committed to a culture of inclusion, from productivity to profitability to sustainability and is dependent on having the right people in place. The company has a diverse staff, across the age ranges, from young people entering trades to people at senior management level with four decades of experience.
Pride Month was an opportunity to promote and support diversity both inside and outside of the workplace. Across June, in recognition and support of Pride Month, STS Group changed the colours of its logo to represent the iconic rainbow flag.
Health, Safety & Wellbeing
Health and wellbeing are areas in which all companies need to be constantly proactive. Health, safety and wellbeing are central to the STS culture. It has a comprehensive wellbeing programme that is active throughout the year, with events scheduled on a regular basis.
Liam Linehan comments: “The challenging modern world with all of its pressures can be overwhelming at times, and we recognise that we must keep pushing the wellbeing programme and supporting our people.”
STS Group Outlook
STS Group is currently working on several pharmaceutical projects and confidential data centre projects across Europe for many US blue-chip clients, including Johnson & Johnson, Sanofi, Teva and CSL, to name a few.
One of the company’s goals for the year ahead is to expand into new regions.
Liam Linehan concludes by commenting: “STS Group’s aims are to continue growing in the countries in which we are active and to enter the sectors in those countries in which we are not currently active, while also adding new regions to our portfolio.”
